When the war is over, a battle still remains
As young battle-fatigued Teddy’s train journey comes to an end, he faces his greatest fight yet.
Teddy (William Servinis) sparks a cigarette, as fellow soldier Frank (Jack Hewitt) appears. Older and less worn by the war, Franks has come to say farewell one last time.
For the pair this means lighting a cigarette in the comfortable quiet.
As the truth of their relationship comes out, they share an embrace covered by the darkness of a tunnel.
Like all things must, the tunnel comes to an end, and so does Teddy and Frank's time together.

Director’s Statement
Smokescreen is a simple story about a complex concept; grief. Although grief is a universal experience, it's intangible and there's no apt dictionary definition for it in any language, much like the smoke and silence Teddy constantly conjures for himself.
It aims to observe Teddy on his literal and emotional journey, in a way that would happen in real life.
I was interested in creating a very 'human' film, by focusing on characters, their emotions and how they exist in time, without relying on large cinematic moments.
This was an incredible challenge to tackle such a theme and keep it grounded, but it was achieved by a dedicated crew and external stakeholders who grounded the film in authenticity and veracity throughout all stages of the production.
